Hello everyone and welcome to the official blog for the podcast "Lyrics are Poetry." Episode one is up now!
Truth be told, this podcast started as a school assignment, but I had so much fun doing this I want to continue to develop this show and work on it.
Episode one tackled the final bonus track of Taylor Swift's 2020 album "folklore." This album was a huge deviation from her first seven albums, and as someone who has been listening to Taylor Swift since I was 12 years old hopping around my childhood bedroom, it's been so rewarding to watch her develop as an artist.
I chose 'the lakes" from this album to focus on because it touched me emotionally the first time I heard it. I was driving back from the Smokey Mountain National Park with my boyfriend, and we both started crying when we heard it. In my opinion, the song perfectly captures romantic escapism, and the songwriting is beautiful.
